WElcome to Ludwig!
Welcome to fourth grade! I am excited to embark on a new year together and return to an in person classroom after a year of teaching a remote class. My personal philosophy as an educator is to make learning as engaging and hands on as possible while challenging students to think outside the box. Some exciting things your child can look forward to include room transformations, STEM challenges, hands on review games such as glow games (neon and black lights) and hungry, hungry, hippos and more! I strive to incorporate games in the learning process as much as possible.

Social Emotional Learning
MathOur math curriculum, Bridges, integrates math talks through number corner, problem solving skills, and includes math games to apply the skills learned. Over the course of the year students will be exposed to many different multiplication and division strategies. As we talk about different strategies we will focus on the fact that we want to use strategies that will help us be the most efficient.
Through the first trimester we will primarily be focusing on understanding that 5x7 is still the same at 7x5 and applying of fact fluency to word problems. We will progress from single step word problems to multi step word problems using multiplication and division. In addition we will be doing some foundational place value work as it relates to division, (understanding that 700 divided by 10 is 70). |

In the area of foundational skills, we will be focusing on reading fluently with expression and the conventions of print. When encountering new words we will use word analysis and decoding skills to break down words for proper pronunciation. We will also practice monitoring our reading.
